A good rosin-core solder suited to electronics. High-current joints benefit from a higher-wattage iron so they heat quickly and flow well.

Flux helps solder flow and bond cleanly, especially on larger connectors and wires. A little makes a big difference to joint quality.

Usually not enough heat, giving a dull, weak joint. Use a hot enough iron, add flux, and heat the joint fully so the solder flows.
