Nitro Engines

Nitro engines for RC cars from .12 to .25 cubic inch.

Nitro engines are the glow-powered heart of a nitro RC car, and displacement sets the power. We stock engines from .12 to .25 cubic inch to suit everything from smaller cars to 1/8 buggies and truggies. Bigger displacement means more power and torque.Pair the engine with the right fuel, plug and exhaust for the best results. See the full range in nitro accessories.

Frequent Questions & Answers
What does the nitro engine size mean?

Engine size is the displacement in cubic inches, such as .21 or .28. A bigger number means more power, matched to bigger or faster cars.

How do I break in a new nitro engine?

Run several tanks rich and cool so the parts bed in, following the maker’s break-in guide. Rushing break-in shortens the engine’s life.

How long does a nitro engine last?

With good filtering, tuning and after-run care an engine lasts a long time. Running lean, dirty or without an air filter wears it out fast.

What else do I need to run a nitro engine?

You need nitro fuel, a matching glow plug, a glow igniter, an exhaust pipe and an air filter, plus after-run oil to protect it between sessions.
